Why “Trigger” Sessions Are Some of My Favorite RTT® Sessions

As a Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) Practitioner, some of my favorite sessions are sessions for triggers.

Many of us experience emotional triggers that seem to come out of nowhere. A comment, a situation, or even a certain tone of voice can suddenly make us feel angry, anxious, hurt, rejected, or overwhelmed. We often ask ourselves, why did I react so strongly?

The truth is that our triggers are rarely about the present moment. More often, they are connected to experiences, beliefs, and emotions that were formed long ago. These unresolved emotions can quietly shape our thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and even our sense of self-worth.

What I love about trigger sessions is that they allow us to gently uncover the root cause of these emotional responses. Through RTT®, we can gain insight into why certain patterns continue to show up in our lives and begin to let go of the emotions and limiting beliefs that no longer serve us. The follow-up session is the best.  In most cases, I may briefly reference the original trigger after the client has resolved the issue, as it has typically become something of the past rather than something they are still emotionally attached to.

Triggers are the way your body and mind communicate that something may need attention or is out of balance. They often reflect unresolved experiences stored in the subconscious, surfacing to bring awareness to what has not yet been processed. Over time, these signals can feel more noticeable if they are not addressed.

Rather than something to fear or avoid, or a reason to withdraw or isolate yourself due to feelings of unworthiness, triggers can be understood as messengers. They point to areas that may be asking for self-reflection, healing, understanding, and transformation. This is a natural function of the mind as it works to bring awareness to what is ready to be acknowledged and resolved.

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is seeing how quickly shifts can occur. Many clients notice that their emotional triggers significantly decrease or are completely resolved within days of their session. This process is further supported by listening to their personalized transformational recording, which helps reinforce new empowering beliefs and allows the mind to continue integrating the changes.

When we understand the "why" behind our triggers, we gain awareness. And with awareness comes the opportunity to create lasting change.

Healing doesn't happen by ignoring our triggers—it happens when we become curious about them, understand their origins, and give ourselves permission to let go of the stories that have kept us stuck.  Clinging on to the past can prevent the emergence of a new beginning.

Sometimes our greatest triggers become our greatest teachers, leading us back to ourselves and opening the door to profound self-awareness and self-growth. Remember that it is perfectly fine to let go and move on.

Results vary from person to person, but many clients experience meaningful shifts in how they respond to situations that once triggered them.
